It's like any other linux distro, has all the networking tools you need
including iptables, route, etc.

Yes, but not with the sharp supported software. If you want to use X, you
need to install other ROMs, this means you can say goodbye to the sharp
software.
GPE is one such environment, enlightenment is also being worked on.
