[tlug] Sharp/WillCom WS003SH

General greetings, and a tip of the hat to Tomita-san. Not sure if there's anyone else I know still hanging around. I've recently started some Ubuntu diddling, and liking it pretty well. To the topic at hand, recently mentioned in another comment.

A USB driver for the Sharp/WillCom WS003SH under Linux is one of my interests. No sign yet that such a beast exists, but I was wondering if there might be a generic approach that would allow for resorting to the ancient Hayes modem commands... I did install a USB utility that reports the device is properly recognized under Linux, but that's as far as I got in my last session on that particular problem... (I've upgraded Dapper Drake on three dual-booting machines and one triple-booter, though I only use one of them regularly under Linux.)

When he [Bawden-san?] reported the Mac driver was bad, I was not too amused. The Windows driver is pretty awful, and that's supposedly fully supported by the maker and all. Off the Linux topic, but I can't resist saying that I am dazzled on an almost daily basis by the sheer awfulness of PocketPC. My expectations were low, but it has exceeded them with new lowness in every way. My current theory is that Microsoft is only doing this to sabotage the PDA market--and they've succeeded rather well.
