I work for a large French owned telcom manufacturer here, and one of the items they seem to expect to make a good profit on is VOIP. I don't know how that will happen unless the RBOC's (Regional Bell Operating Companies I think) manage to somehow throttle the development/deployment of low cost VOIP. I'm calling pc2pc and skype from here to Tokyo sounds as good as (maybe better than) standard telephone with no noticable latency. Sometimes I hear some dropout, but not much. O'reilly is having a VOIP conference here in San Francisco that I'd love to go to, but can't really afford. http://conferences.oreillynet.com/etel2006/ Steve S.
