You know you have to unmute the card right?
Run alsamixer and make sure your card is unmuted and turn up the volume
Sorry if i am stating the obvious, but if you are using a 2.6 kernel and
all your modules are loaded then there isn't much else.
The other option is to just install ubuntu and be done with it ;-)
