Definitely off-topic, but since there is a loose connection in that
we're all interested in technology....
I went down to Nagoya to get some pictures of the Expo there for an
article I was assigned and while pictures are starting to appear
on-line, I had trouble finding decent photographic evidence of the event
during my research, so I'm posting the links to four pages of (my own)
photos I put up of the event. The photos are very-thin-barrier contact
sheets, so you can take in several views of the event in a very short
period of time with the design, as it maximizes available screen area.
If you click on the photos, it links you to the front page, and if you
click on the large photo on the front page, it takes you to the Photo
Gallery index. Clicking on titles opens up the photos on their own
pages, and the "Back" button (or whatever) takes you back to the index
page. A weird design, but I wanted to use as much of the screen for the
pictures as possible.
Regarding the event. Avoid the ridiculously undersized (three tiny
cars) "Linimo" maglev train - that everyone is calling a "linear motor"
train. It runs exactly like a regular train in speed and feel (except
for a very slightly different feel over some rough spots), and it'll
lose you an hour or two of time if you unwisely take it from Fujigaoka
Station. About the terms "maglev" and "linear motor", when I point out
to people that the Oedo Line is also a linear motor train, questions
marks start bouncing off the walls. Leave it to a certain company that
starts with a "T" that developed the train to misname it! Anyway, sorry
for the off-topic post, but if you're interested in how the Expo looks
(interesting to visit if you have money and time to burn *and* it's not
overly crowded when you go), you might find them of interest.
