Andrew Shuttleworth passed along a reminder about this Thursday's ICA meeting which features a speaker from Red Hat: ----- Linux open source operating system has been widely used in the enterprise applications throughout the world now. It has received a particular attention by China and other Asian government as an alternative to traditional operating systems. However, the concept of open source and business model of Linux are not well understood by the enterprise IT community. Ken's presentation will discuss the current state of Linux from the enterprise IT standpoint and address the issue of Linux intellectual properties and the open source business models. He will dispel myths between OpenSource and Proprietary Software and reveal secrets around security, software assurance and standardization that the big players don't want you to know. Additionally Ken will bring in information on new shifts in customer demand -- including Linux on the Mainframe. Ken Koike serves as Director, North Asia Channel Sales and Development for Red Hat. He is responsible for developing Red Hat business through its channel partners in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan.
