I always forget which of the brothers is the grouch--but one of them
once wrote something so funny, I laughed so hard that I scared the heck
out of the cat on my lap, resulting in a painful (to me) flight by the
poor critter.

One quick note on Exim, for the heck of it. I don't run a mail server,
but needed a heavy duty agent (as a rule I use ssmtp, as a single user)
to send emails to all users at once. Jonathan worked for two days with
me, trying to get Exim working properly. I never did. With postfix, I
had to change one line, the relayagent (RelayAgent?--I don't need it
on this box so don't have it) to our company's smtp server and it worked
without problem.

However, others find Exim incredibly easy to configure. Not sure what
my problem was, but I was also a bit used to Postfix's files.

One last note for anyone who looks up all this stuff in the archives in
a year....I mentioned, early in the thread, that FreeBSD gives you the
option during installation to have postfix replace sendmail. If you
don't choose that option, you can run into difficulty later--not major,
but when you start it, it'll be looking for files that it expects to
find in /etc that aren't there (but can easily be copied over.)

Hope some of this is useful to someone.
