i agree with you on the games part,
but on my laptop that gets booted at least twice a day if i am not at home
i'd like to have some pleasing animations while the boot process is running.
and if this can start with the boot loader i will take it.
i haven't gotten around to get framebuffer console support working,
but as soon as that is done, i'll get the linux-progress-patch which
hides that boring text output. and then i'll have an animated boot
sequence from start to finish.
