[tlug] Linux-compatible printers in Japan?

Hello,

I am currently in need of a good but cheap printer
for my home office. I print mostly text, things like
manuals, so I care about speed and sharpness but not
color. So I think I want a monochrome laser printer.
But I'm openminded, as long as I can get at least
12ppm, at least 600x600 dpi, for less than 30,000 yen.

Now, there seem to be several good, cheap, Linux
compatible monochrome laser printers out there (the
Samsung ML-1210 in particular) but of course none
of them are sold in Japan, I assume because Canon
and Epson and co. have not given them permission.

I can find a few models on Tsukumo's site that meet
my criteria but have no idea if there are Linux
drivers, and Linuxprinting.org doesn't list Japanese
models in their database. I really want something
with a driver that works perfectly, can be autodetected,
etc...I've had horrible printer nightmares with Linux
in the past and don't want to repeat them.

So, does anyone out there have a printer close to what
I'm describing that they like? Even better, are there
any Japanese-model-specific Linux printer driver
listings/databases out there?

Thanks,

Ryan
