Thats right. It was near the step where bzImage gets copied to /boot

If I build a new kernel, specially if its for another machine, just
copying a working config to '.config' and running 'make menuconfig' is
better than starting from scratch each time.

Redhat does it by providing them in the 'configs' directory under the
kernel source. You might do it by making a .config.bak or something. I
do it by saving it with the kernel in /boot. Its just a matter of
preference.
