[tlug] Kernel build errors

I using the XFS cvs kernel source tree to buil a kernel that supports XFS 
for my RH7.2 machine. I think I made it all the way to the end but after a 
'make modules_install' I get:

find kernel -path '*/pcmcia/*' -name '*.o' | xargs -i -r ln -sf ../{} pcmcia
if [ -r System.map ]; then /sbin/depmod -ae -F System.map  2.4.18-xfs; fi
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in 
/lib/modules/2.4.18-xfs/kernel/fs/binfmt_elf.o
depmod:         empty_zero_page
depmod:         get_user_pages


Is this fatal? If so how can I get to symbols to resolve?
