[tlug] compile kernel from cd

Hello.

When I want to compile the kernel I copy from a CD the sources to the
/usr/src/linux and compile it. I was thinking about compile it from the CD.
Can it be possible? How could I do to make that the bzImage and some others
files will write to the hard disk?
