I just installed it today and compiled my whole system from gccc 3.1.
I found I had to use the latest perl, perl-5.6.1-r4 for Gentoo Linux.
I still having trouble compiling Xfree86, so i'm going to the latest
again, which is 4.2.0-r11. I'll let ya know how it goes.

BTW, I'm using -march=athlon -O6 -pipe when compiling
