I can understand them defaulting to Shift_JIS, after all 90%+ of Japanese pages are in that code, but to fail to honour a charset=xxx is pathetic. After all, converting bwteen the codings is a few lines of C. It's not just the i-modes; J-Phone etc. are the same.
