I am trying to ftp from a RH6.2 box to a 7.1 box. I find that it takes a long time for me to get a sign-in prompt. The same is true if I try the reverse, from 7.1 to 6.2 machine. I though it might be due to a DNS lookup but both machines have their IP addresses in the other's /ect/hosts file, and host.conf has the the resolv order set to hosts, bind. What might be causing the delay? Which file did I forget to edit?
