Re: Linux job market in Japan

Dear Roylo,

Deutsche bank 600 layoffs across the Asian Pacific Region.
Merill Lynch 30 contractors
NetRatings 5 people.
IQ3 history
Fujitsu 3000 contracts and employees outside Japan.

The number of hiring freezes make the Japan job market seem frigid (financial companies aren't hiring that's why the IT companies are hurting). For companies it is a buyers market. Buy when the cost is low and layoff over paid workers. So now the market is flooded with exceptionally talented people who are exceptionally not talented about market research and finding openings. That is where your friendly neighborhood head hunter comes in, they keep in constant touch with employers and know which companies have openings. I'm always looking for Japanese bilingual candidates. Sales, Marketing, Unix SA, Java Web Developer, Sybase DBAs <- thats plural, and escpecially SAP R/3 engineers. If you fall into any of these categories please give me a shout.
