as the problem only occurs when 
one boots NT after Linux and wouldn't 
occur if one were using NT on a system 
that does not have Linux on it, I would

but perhaps I am thinking in overly 
simplified terms. 
as such a knowledgeable person says 
it is off-topic, I will upgrade my 
consciousness, and forget about it 
(and consider the problem that price 
one pays for dual booting NT and Linux).
