Scott <scottro@example.com> wrote: As for typing Japanese--John, aren't you running RH 7.1 J? Or English with Japanese support? If the former, I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've installed RH7.1 Japanese and designated Japanese as the default locale/language system wide. So for most programs I can use Japanese easily enough, and have Japanese menus etc. on the KDE desktop as well as in KDE programs. Konqueror is also Japanese. On the other hand, when I tried to install Netscape 4.77, all the menus are totally unreadable (they look like Chinese and many of them are missing). After installing Star Office from one of the disks that came with the package, I noticed it is the Spanish version. The graphical log-in window (for the system) is all question marks. Sylpheed was originally Japanese but after I rebooted the system, it is now English. So I'm a little less impressed with the "out of the box" experience of RH7.1J than I was initially, in terms of language behavior, other than KDE. -- John De Hoog, Tokyo <dehoog@example.com>
