RE: Laptops

I've never had trouble running Linux on any laptop I've ever had, X
included.
Maybe if you have a strange new chipset or something, I know some of the
El-Cheapo notebooks are coming with some weird chip that I'd never heard of
before... but if the laptop uses a standard chip like an ATI, nVidia,
Matrox, or even a neomagic or S3, you're fine.

Subject: Laptops

Hello,

Is the Linux situation still so bad with laptops ?

I will soon get a new computer with the new OS from ..... That upgrade will
give me the possibility to test Linux (SuSE 7.2) on a Fujitsu FMV Biblo
NEVIII23.
Are there any general recommendations what I should do or should not do ?
What are the problems with laptops ?

Thank you in advance.
Michael

In general, laptops are not easy to configure if you want to run X, or it
have been.
