I just went and got myself on the list. No, Stephen, 8Mbps is for everyone. However, as you know, since this is ADSL, there's no guarantee about this speed. Also, the area is very limited at the moment. Within June, they are going to service only very limited parts of the Tokyo Ward area. People are throwing themselves at Yahoo right now to get the feel for it, but it seems that areas outside the Yamanote line is still not serviced. Whole Tokyo and major cities should be covered in July, so you can register anyway (no obligations), I'm not sure what's SDSL, but the blurb says that it is AnnexA G.dmt (G.992.1). So, it's nice, although Yahoo/Softbank has a bad reputation of not fully commiting to their announcements, and there's a lot of suspicion about how this thing could possibly pay its way. However, this seems to have pushed NTT into hurrying up their FTTH plan, and other DSL operators will be forced into some action, so I guess it's good for us users overall. Best, Hiroo
