Thank you for all the advice in response to my question about global search and replace. Not knowing much about sed yet and not being able to get emacs' special global search and replace el add-on set up properly, in the end, I used emacs like this: Cx-d (select the directory) and do a repetitive search and replace. This wasn't the perfect solution, but it was the easiest way to do the task at hand. Thanks!
