Thanks for the replies, found the graphic card: "Chips and Technologies,
Accelerator (new)", had to download some software to find out the exact
model number, and found it is supported by X :-)

Thinking that I had all the neccessary information I went ahead with the
installation, erased everything (never should do that in my case, I guess),
was pleased to get a color screen and being able to boot from CD-ROM. But
now for installation for the basic system I had to choose between CD-ROM,
floppy etc. again, and it asked me on which controller my CD-ROM is, and I
have no idea. Before I pull out the floppies: is there a way to find out
whether it is the first or second device on the first, second, third, or
fourth controller?
