My previous message seems still not have made it to the list, but in the meanwhile I tried another configuration attempt after some more RTFM, and again the configuration failed, I get the black-white-grey blinking garbage and ctrl- alt-backspace does not stop it and I thought I vaguely remembered something about ctrl-alt Fn to get to console n, but this all does not work .. Ctrl-alt- delete however behaves as desired. From the startup messages I understood that it starts xdm so I have to disable that somehow, with dselect I think was written somewhere ... (need to log what I read where), anyway, but first I need a console. Giving my boot disc "linux 2" at the prompt (as I think I read somewhere as well) to make it start in runlevel 2 does not have the expected result, xdm gets started again ... what can I do? Reinstall?
