That's me. The "other Steve". > Anyway, the remote systems want to see an MX record for the sender > domain, I'm pretty sure. Or at least an SOA for it, I think. Steve's problems are DNS related. The SOA for the zone file on shako has a serial number of `502', however there are some hosts that think the serial number is `200003428'. Presumably the cached data under the higher serial number is erroneous. $ nslookup > set type=soa > sk.tsukuba.ac.jp Server: ns.jp.tlan Address: 172.16.37.1 Non-authoritative answer: sk.tsukuba.ac.jp origin = shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp mail addr = manager.shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp serial = 502 refresh = 10800 (3H) retry = 3600 (1H) expire = 604800 (1W) minimum ttl = 86400 (1D) Authoritative answers can be found from: sk.tsukuba.ac.jp nameserver = shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp internet address = 130.158.97.253 > server gwyn.tux.org Default Server: gwyn.tux.org Address: 207.96.122.8 > sk.tsukuba.ac.jp Server: gwyn.tux.org Address: 207.96.122.8 Non-authoritative answer: sk.tsukuba.ac.jp origin = shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp mail addr = manager.shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp serial = 200003428 refresh = 10800 (3H) retry = 3600 (1H) expire = 3600000 (5w6d16h) minimum ttl = 86400 (1D) Authoritative answers can be found from: sk.tsukuba.ac.jp nameserver = shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp internet address = 130.158.97.253 > server shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp Default Server: shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp Address: 130.158.97.253 > sk.tsukuba.ac.jp Server: shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp Address: 130.158.97.253 sk.tsukuba.ac.jp origin = shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp mail addr = manager.shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp serial = 502 refresh = 10800 (3H) retry = 3600 (1H) expire = 604800 (1W) minimum ttl = 86400 (1D) sk.tsukuba.ac.jp nameserver = shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp shako.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp internet address = 130.158.97.253 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Next Technical Meeting: May 13 (Sat) 13:30 Temple University Japan * Topic: Crypto and Security Speaker: Chris Sekiya Next Nomikai Meeting: June 16 (Fri), Tengu TokyoEkiMae. -------------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://www.tlug.gr.jp Sponsor: Global Online Japan
