Just to clarify: it's possible to network two 10Base-T nodes together
with a crossover cable.  This is only good for point-to-point
connections.  To network multiple nodes you need a hub (a.k.a. repeater)
or a switch (a.k.a. multiport bridge).  10Base-2 (thinnet) is another
option if you're on a *really* limited budget, but I'd recommend staying
away from it if at all possible (UTP is *so* much easier to deal with
than coax).  10Base-T hubs and switches can be found amazingly cheap
these days.
