Are there any commands i can type in at the prompt to inquire into the
existence/status of this ipop3d?

This is something i might try on my home machine, but at this point the
machine at the office is going to have to stay Red Hat. I'm not the only
person using it, and i think i would catch some major flack if i changed
things on the others now.
