  If you want paper documentation,
  you can't beat "Running Linux" by Matt Welsh and Lar Kaufmann,
  O'Reilly and Associates, Inc., 1995/2.  pp.575

  It's great as are all the O'Reilly books (I think they're at 
www.ora.com).  Matt Walsh is one of the original Linux Documentation
Project people.
