Warning... Rant coming along

        I think it's still being maintained but I think the problem
(from the user standpoint just wanting an ISO they can download)
is some research projects got ahold of Knoppix so you're going to
have Knoppix_MyPhDProjectVersion1,2,3,4,etc.   I really wish they
would just push that under 'other' and leave one canonical version
that matches the main Knoppix one and let the adventurous look for
and run Vmware_in_Xen_in_qemu edition.
