Jim,

You are confusing two seperate threads. If you are going to be patronizing then at least try keeping up. You've cut out part of one message with the subject header "Japanese encoding resources" and pasted it into one titled "jp encoding detection", Maybe the summer heat is playing havoc with you but I thought I had made it quite clear with the opening sentence what I was after. I don't see how jconv is going to help  "Some people at work [who] want to learn about Japanese encoding."
