FMV-5133 NA6/W - Trident Cyber 9397 - FM97Y6

I was able to get X running on this FMV Biblio notebook 
(FMV-5133-NA6/W) only with the following formula, i.e., 
it only works with depth =32, Mode=800x600 . 
I tried setting the depth to 16 and bringing the mode up to 
the modes that the system probed (Turbolinux' turboxcfg) 
but nothing else has worked. 
X runs under this setup, but xterm windows and other 
objects being displayed shimmy and shake now and again. 
Would like to fix that if possible. 

Has anyone had success with a different formula? 
I have looked around on the web, but haven't seen 
much mention of this machine with Linux.
