That depends on if you want scsi or ide.

I have fond the iomega zipCD 8x4x32
to be most effective.

however, all ide cdr/cdrw use scsi emulation under linux. this is quite easy though and be accomplished
rather easily. 

all of which is explained in the cd writing howto in
the ldp. although a quick note. you may want to ismod
ide-scsi in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and change it's file
permissions so kudzu detects it.
