In fact there is... it's called rendaku (連濁): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendaku That article (which I haven't actually read :-) is a bit technical... if you have further questions, fire away. > Complicating matters in this case for me is that せつ・ぜつ isn't in the 音 > or 訓 for 説. Huh? I believe it's a standard 音 reading. Dave
