If you look up 思い in a good 国語辞典 you'll see something like:
"おもい おもひ ..【思い】 ....."
おもひ is the old kana version of 思い/おもい. Used now in literary
contexts to give a sense of long ago. I'll let you work out the
ぽろぽろ....
