Well, X is up and running; thanks for all the help and suggestions. This machine has 64MB of ram, twice as much as I had thought. Even so, X is slow; don't think I will be using it too much. Nuther couple of basic question: Are there any benefits of using an APM kernel on a server like this one? I am thinking it might help to save electricity and wear and tear on the machine if I could somehow put it to sleep when it is not being used much. The soundcard (Windows says it is SB16/Awe32) has a 15 hole port on it with the words "joystick" and "midi" written next to it. Forgive my ignorance, but what kind of port might that be? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: December 17 (Fri), 20:00 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Technical Meeting: January 14 (Fri) 19:00 * Topic: "glibc - current status and future developments" * Guest Speaker: Ulrich Drepper (Cygnus Solutions) * Place: Oracle Japan HQ 12F Seminar Room (New Otani Garden Court) ------------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://www.tlug.gr.jp Sponsor: Global Online Japan
