tlug: Path confusion

Any idea what is going on here?

wget: Command not found.
> /bin/wget
wget: missing URL
Usage: wget [OPTION]... [URL]...

Try `wget --help' for more options.
> echo $PATH
/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/contrib/bin

I've tried putting it in /usr/bin and /usr/contrib/bin as well. Why would
my path not get used? The wget file is owned by root but has read and
executable permission for everyone.
