Hi, In ISO conventions "should" means recommended, and "shall" means must. Other standards organizations I am aware of use this same convention as well. However IETF also allows variations such as "recommended" and "must", as defined in RFC 2119. Regards, Gregory Tucker > If "shall" means a rule of thumb by convention in English specs, I guess > I should have rendered the Jse "to suru" as "must" instead --- I don't > think this reg leaves folks with any option but to use the specified, > certified kit. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: March 19 (Fri), 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Technical Meeting: April 10 (Sat), 12:30 place: Temple Univ. ------------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://www.tlug.gr.jp Sponsor: Global Online Japan
