I tried this with "mf", but I still get "can't load library
'libXt.so.6'

On another machine, on which I did a clean install of TL3.0J, it all
works fine. It seems that there is something wrong with the upgrade.

Ahh, the "clean" machine has libc5xlibs-3.3.2-2TL installed! This
contains /usr/X11R6/lib/libc5/... 

installed that and now it works!
