That really > sucks. It does indeed, but there is one other workaround: put Windows on a separate disk, all by itself, and make the disk the C: drive. Then you can use the W98 recovery disk, and it will restore the C: drive and (should) ignore the D: drive. To be absolutely safe, though, I would take the additional step of disconnecting the cable from the D: drive when using the recovery disk.
