I will defer to the people who've contributed so far if they think I'm full of it. However with TurboLinux, recent versions of PPP and Tsukuba-dai's ancient (analog modem, but we seem to be past the point where that's relevant) dialup system I've had real problems (which I don't understand, just solved by tinkering) with the difference between "passive" and "silent" and too-low settings of the LCP timeout variables. Do PAP and CHAP happen before or after the LCP handshake? I think after. So playing with those may help. -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 __________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________ What are those two straight lines for?
