tlug: NT renaming?

This just in from ZD Net Anchordesk:

              MICROSOFT CONSIDERS NEW NAME,
              EARLIER RELEASE FOR WINDOWS NT
According to reports, Microsoft may rename the
next version of its Windows NT operating
system to make it more consistent with its
consumer Windows OS (Windows 98 and 95). In
addition, Microsoft partners say the software
giant may move up the release of NT 5.0 to June,
then follow with "service packs" of other
features. Jesse says if the company really wants
to be more consistent, it will rename NT 5.0
"Windows 99." Then not release it until 2001.

They must be feeling really pressured if they are thinking of a June release
of NT 5, ready or not. But let them go ahead and do an early release of
"Really Really New Technology," or whatever they might call it now :-) It may
be a debacle that helps to boost Linux/UNIX even more :-)
