Usually not noted for straying from Microsoft, The October 20 issue of PC Magazine has some flattering things to say about both Linux and FreeBSD :-) p.111: "This year's surprise contender for network operating systems is Linux. If we had to pick one development that really legitimizes Linux in the corporate world, it's the recent announcement that Oracle will port it's Oracle 8 database to Linux. Informix has jumped on the Linux bandwagon as well. And application vendors such as Netscape and Corel have begun to move their application software to the Linux platform. There's even a version of NetWare from Caldera that runs on Linux." p.227: Free BSD - A No-Cost NOS (full article) "... Although it lacks Windows NT's eas of use and application support, FreeBSD offers superior stability, security, and speed ..." -Joe. ____________________________________________________________________________ Joe Marchak joem@example.com ph:03-5203-3925 fx:03-5203-3699 ldist: s/03/813/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------- Next Meeting: 10 October, 12:30 Tokyo Station Yaesu central gate Featuring the IMASY Eng.
