That nearly broke me up. To most of the world, the home of NIH-dom is
the good old U S of A.

Just try getting US manufacturers interested in a product that wasn't
invented at home. IEEE802.6 was a good case. IEEE had the temerity to
accept a foreign technology as the MAN standard, and the manufacturers
stayed away from it.
