probably because you need glibc libraries and slackware doesn't have them.
That's a weird error for it to give, but that's what you get when you try
to run a glibc binary on a libc5 system.... you'll need TurboLinux or
Redhat or SuSE or Debian to use Oracle8.  Slackware boot disks might be
nice rescue images, but in terms of a distribution, Slackware is somewhat
bronze-age...
