Re: tlug: Web browsing from a batch file?



Thanks for all the answers to this. I'm not very comfortable with perl, so
I used "wget", a C-program. It writes the web page to a file, and seems to
have lots of options for downloading whole sites, which I don't need. It
also has a windows version, but I've not looked into that yet.

I then use this batch file:

wget -q -O thepage.html http://the_url
cat mail_header the_page.html | rmail darren@example.com

The mail_header file allows me to specify a subject, from address, as well
as an introduction.
sendmail wasn't on this Solaris system (or at least, it wasn't in the
path), so I'm using rmail.

PS. A web search for "www-get" got about 50% porno sites! Maybe I've led a
sheltered life, but I just can't work out the connection.
