The drive settings are all known good.  Indeed, these drives were merely
transplanted from an SS1+ to an SS2.  Everything worked in the 1+, but
it seems that the 2 has a different SCSI controller, one that is
affected by the SCSI controller bug in RH 5.1.  A replacement kernel, as
prescribed by Chris, should fix me right up.

I also have a disk with SunOS on it that I can swap in.  If that boots,
then I know for sure Red Hat is the guilty party :-)
