I don't know either, but I do know that FSF Emacs people generally use 
a different version ... a while back I exchanged messages w/ some
people on comp.text.sgml about PSGML; said people were surprised to
find there was an XEmacs-specific version of the package which does a
few things differently (e.g. it has a different and apparently better
method of handling compiled DTDs) than the one they had. Anyway, the
