My experience is from the Navy. Even there, we did our best to keep
the machines above the sea :)

Cramolin was what I was trying to remember. I never new it was made in
Germany. It was standard practice that any time a card was replaced,
it got a coat of Cramolin.

I mentioned that you could clean the contacts with an eraser. I should
give a warning with that. Its possible to "erase" the plating right
off the card, so be gentle, using it no more than absolutely
necessary. We usually used this as last step in a complex ritual to
exercise daemons of unknown origin out of the machines, with maybe a
25% success rate. We could have done better, but because of the raised
flooring, sacrificial lambs were prohibited :)
