Yep.  The usual SMP-kernel-dying-on-UP-machine.

Sort of.  I installed the glibc RPM, compiled the 5.1 kernel (but I turned
SMP off), and then compiled the rest of the world by hand.

My kernel may work for you, if you boot from floppy and then copy the
kernel over.  Let me know if you want it.
