Ah, yes, SKK is a little strange.  Do M-X skk-tut (or maybe it's
skk-tutorial).

SKK stands for Simple [or Single] Kana-Kanji conversion.  To get "これは
日本語です。" you type "koreha" C-J "Nihongo" SPC C-J "desu."  The
capitalization of Nihongo signals that this is a kanji compound.

It's not bad if you've got nothing else, and it does not require an
external server (although it provides one).  I used to use it a lot
when I was running Demacs/Nemacs on DOS.

Still, you'll probably be a lot more comfortable with egg-wnn if
you've got Wnn 4 on your system.

The fact that Wnn, Canna, and SKK show up on that menu is my doing, by
the way.  I told you I dream dreams.  :-)
