Ah, yes, SKK is a little strange. Do M-X skk-tut (or maybe it's skk-tutorial). SKK stands for Simple [or Single] Kana-Kanji conversion. To get "これは 日本語です。" you type "koreha" C-J "Nihongo" SPC C-J "desu." The capitalization of Nihongo signals that this is a kanji compound. It's not bad if you've got nothing else, and it does not require an external server (although it provides one). I used to use it a lot when I was running Demacs/Nemacs on DOS. Still, you'll probably be a lot more comfortable with egg-wnn if you've got Wnn 4 on your system. The fact that Wnn, Canna, and SKK show up on that menu is my doing, by the way. I told you I dream dreams. :-) -------------------------------------------------------------- Next TLUG Meeting: 13 June Sat, Tokyo Station Yaesu gate 12:30 Featuring Stone and Turnbull on .rpm and .deb packages Next Nomikai: 17 July, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 After June 13, the next meeting is 8 August at Tokyo Station -------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsor: PHT, makers of TurboLinux http://www.pht.co.jp
