I felt the same way about my old couch in my bachelor apartment.  It was a
good thing that my wife made me get rid of it, though, as insects had
moved in, so it was time that they took their dang couch and left! :)

You will find that TL comes with some nice cutting-edge technologies such
as ncurses, which Slackware does not :)
